Roof Repairs

We were delighted this June to learn that our latest bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund had been successful and we have been awarded a grant of £250,000. This is excellent news and means that, providing we can find match funding of nearly £70,000 by June next year, come the autumn of 2018 we can cover the roof in scaffolding and begin to carry out the repairs that will make the building watertight and prevent further damage to those areas of the building that are affected.

The requirement to find the match funding means that we will have to redouble our many and various activities in this area. The PCC have already considered various schemes and a very successful, and well attended, Coffee Morning and Beetle Drive have raised much needed funds as well as providing opportunities for the people of Lanhydrock to join together in a social, and fun, setting.

The PCC have also approached other grant funding bodies and it is hoped that their generosity will be another means of helping us to reach our target.

The Revd Roger May, commenting on the good news of the award, said that "This major grant has given us the opportunity to secure the future of our church building and it is vital therefore that we meet our match funding commitments and so enable the works to go ahead. If we don't the consequences are unthinkable."
